This species is endemic to the Azores Islands and was described  in 1992 (Warncke 1992c).

Population:

The populations are probably small as the species is described from only one male. There is no information available on the population trend of this species.

The threats to this species are not known. This species has a relatively restricted range, within which it is presumably threatened to some degree by climatic factors. The introduced species, Hylaeus signatus, may compete with it
