There is insufficient information on distribution, population size and trend and threats to be able to assess this species in any category other than Data Deficient (DD).
This species is endemic to La Gomera, although there are no precise data regarding localities where it has been found. It was found by Paiva in the mid 1850s and described in 1864; it is only mentioned later by Mousson in 1872 and Wollaston in 1878. This species was not re-found or mentioned by Ibanez and his colleagues, nor found by K. Groh (K. Groh pers. comm. 2011).
