Assessment Rationale:

This species is restricted to the Madeiran islands where it is found at 36 different sites on Porto Santo and 3 offshore islets. It is often abundant at sites. The present population abundance, widespread distribution over the island, number of sites and presence in degraded habitat, suggest that this species is not highly threatened. The mainland populations are susceptible, given the multiple threats causing habitat degradation and impact of non-native species. However, the species is currently viewed as Least Concern, based on current habitat and threats.

Geographic Range:

This species is endemic to the Madeiran Archipelago, where it is found on Porto Santo and islets of Ilheu de Ferro, Ilheu de Baixo, Ilheu de Nordeste, Ilheu da Fonte d'Areia. It is quite widespread on the south-west and south-east parts of the mainland of Porto Santo (Seddon 2008).
