This species is endemic to the Azores Islands (Portugal), where the species is considered to be restricted to Faial Island (A.M. Frias Martins pers. comm. 2016). The Azorean atlas data from 2008 showed the species on Sao Jorge (two isolated locations), Faial, and Sao Miguel (a single location on the northern coast) (atlas data, A.M. Frias Martins pers. comm. 2018), but these are now considered to be other species.
